Its interactive, tailored experience encourages users to spend more time on the platform, while the automation of trip planning helps businesses streamline operations and reduce costs.

AI Travel Assistant Proof of Concept - description

The assistant guides users through trip planning with a simple interface. When searching for a hotel, users see a "Plan your trip with AI assistant" option that leads them to a calendar-based planning tool. After answering a few personalized questions—such as the type of trip, preferred activities, or custom preferences—the assistant generates an itinerary, complete with city names, images, and critical travel suggestions.

Here’s the POC in details:

  • The user starts by entering their desired destination (in this case, Nice, France), selecting travel dates, the number of travelers, and room preferences.
  • A list of hotels and is presented, showing key details such as hotel names, ratings, distance from the city center, room availability, and prices.
  • Below the list of hotel options, a banner invites users to "Plan your trip with AI Assistant." This option encourages users to start a personalized trip planning process with the assistant, allowing for a more tailored travel experience.
  • By clicking the "Start planning" button in the banner, the user is led into the AI assistant feature to further personalize their trip itinerary, making travel decisions based on their preferences and needs.

A calendar view for choosing desired dates for the user’s trip:

Once the dates are set, the user clicks "Next" to proceed to the next stage of the trip planning process. Then, the AI assistant asks the user what trip they plan. The options include:

  • Solo
  • With a partner
  • With a friend
  • With friends
  • With family

This step personalizes the trip recommendations further based on the user's chosen travel group. Once an option is selected, the user clicks "Next" to proceed with planning.

The next step includes further customization of the user’s travel. The screen asks the user: "How do you want to spend your time?" The user can choose from various options for experiences and activities to include in their itinerary.

After a while, the AI assistant presents a detailed travel itinerary for a 2-day trip to Nice. Users can view their trip details, including dates and recommended hotels with ratings, prices, and distances from the city center.

This is a detailed view of the itinerary that includes suggested activities, walking distances, and interactive options to edit or propose changes. On the right, an interactive map shows the day's route, helping users visualize locations and navigate the city.

The AI travel assistant concept combines personalized travel suggestions with user customization. It provides tailored accommodation recommendations from the hotel booking platform. Users receive daily itineraries with activities, distances, and directions. The standout feature is the ability to edit plans easily, with clickable tooltips allowing travelers to modify or add destinations and extend their trip by adding extra days.
